Remarks & Notes
Several locomotives await work at just outside Union Pacific’s Omaha Shops in June 1981, including GP9s Nos. 269 and 150. Behind them is the 1,007 by 150-foot main shop building. This entire 100-acre shop complex, a major overhaul and maintenance facility for the railroad, was closed in 1988 and demolished soon after. You wouldn’t recognize this place today, as it is the location of CenturyLink Center Omaha arena and convention center.
