LaSalle, Colorado is the junction where the Union Pacific cutoff line from Omaha to Denver (through Sterling and Fort Morgan) met up with the line from Denver to Cheyenne and points west. In other words, it saw tons of "City of ..." trains.
On one of these City trains, my would-be parents came out west from school in Ohio to spend time with my grandparents (in Ft. Collins, CO); they disembarked and later boarded again at this very station!
