The uniform was a little different back then. A Northern Central Railway engine crew takes a brief moment to relax as they await orders from a station agent, to continue their journey south from Glen Rock, PA to Baltimore, MD, some 40 miles to the south. In reality, these two fellows are Steve Meola and Alex Horneman, both of whom are qualified engineers at Steam Into History, a new tourist operation out of New Freedom, PA. Although they typically wear more contemporary railroad clothing for normal operations, they both donned mid-1800s period dress on this particular day as they were participating in a Carl Franz Photo Charter. They were in fact awaiting orders when this photo was taken.....orders from Mr. Franz to move on to their next photo stop!
