A friction bearing and cast frame on an old D&RGW ski train car clearly showed its heritage as a Pullman-built coach for the Northern Pacific Ry. in 1915. D&RGW acquired eight of the coaches in 1960 and they served until early 1987 when newer cars from Canada arrived. Life was not over for the old cars — they went to California’s Napa Valley Wine Train where no one would suspect their old age.
