Sunday morning around 10:30am, a westbound coal load headed for Amarillo, TX derailed on BNSF's Brush Subdivision on the west side of Hudson, CO, about 30 miles northeast of Denver (home of an animal sanctuary).
The worse part of the derailment resulted in about 25 cars turning over and spilling their loads. The derailment, caused by a broken wheel, also took out the switch and signal at the west end of the Hudson siding.
