Following a change to the crew at the very well kept Lions River Station in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands (due to the hard work of caretaker Daniel Madlala), E1658 / E1595 / E1318, continue on their way to Johannesburg. Transnet Engineering Workshops at Edwin Swales in Durban did a fantastic job putting these 40 something year old electric units into the PRASA "blue" livery. They will be continuing on in service for the near future hauling mainline passenger trains on the line between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Some info re the livery history of these three locomotives during their working life. E1658, the PRASA "Blue" is her fourth livery type having already been in SAR Red & Whiskers, Spoornet "Orange" and Shosholoza Meyl "Purple". E1595, went directly from SAR Red & Whiskers to the PRASA "Blue". E1318, is in her third livery variation, having started out in SAR Red & Whiskers, then the Spoornet "Maroon" and now the PRASA "Blue".
