McCloud River Railroad #18 on the V&T Former Northern California transplant, McCloud River Railroad 2-8-2 #18 heads north having charged through Tunnel #4 with a freight bound for Virginia City, NV.
This engine was built in Philadelphia in 1914 by Baldwin for the McCloud River Railroad. She was sold to the Yreka Western in 1956 where she operated until blowing a cylinder head while powering a special excursion in 1966. She then sat stored out of service till 1998 when the McCloud bought her back and restored her (2001). Coming upon hard times, the McCloud sold the engine to the Virginia & Truckee Restoration Committee in 2005 who in turned loaned her to the Sierra Railroad (2007-2009). Her first revenue run at "the new V&T" was on July 24, 2010.
