Railfanning can be a solitary, misunderstood, and frustrating hobby. It can also be extremely rewarding with good companionship, wonderful scenery, and great photographic rewards. Those days that fall into the latter category are why we keep coming back trackside - this was one such day. It was -3 degrees at dawn near the continental divide in Colorado's front range, with bluebird skies over a winter wonderland of pines draped in a foot of fresh snow. After a busy morning on the Moffat, an eastbound BNSF manifest train was the final photographic target of our day, seen here rounding the curve at Crescent.
