Remarks & Notes
Though there were just a couple of through freights each way a day on the Mobile line in the mid-1990s, Selma also had a small yard that was base for a couple of locals. It seemed like all the locals and switch jobs - everything except the 'big' scheduled trains (483/484) and the irregular Mobile-Gadsden pellet trains - ran with GP38s. On the day of this photo, 483 had a mix of older SDs, but every other diesel was a member of the GP38 family. No other geeps, and no GEs of any sort.
