Remarks & Notes
Originally constructed in 1928, the now-dormant Wabash Railroad Station on Delmar Blvd. in western St. Louis City awaits an uncertain future. Back in its heyday, outbound Wabash trains from St. Louis' Union Station to western destinations such as Omaha and Kansas City stopped here, as did trains heading to the east for places such as Chicago and Detroit. The original Wabash right-of-way ran underneath the station. That ROW is now used by the Metrolink light rail system. The Metrolink trains stop at a newer, separate at-grade station behind this station. Currently owned by a local entrepreneur and previously used to house a home lighting store, there has been recent talk about bringing the station back to life.
