Snippets of the glory days..... Although the Nevada Northern Railway is a working museum, and the equipment and facilities are in constant use, there are a few dusty corners in various buildings where, with a little imagination, you can take yourself back 75-100 years. Such is the case in this corner of the machine shop, where the NN "Engine Board" survives amidst modern day clutter. The board clearly lists the power that was in use in the waning days of steam, and the men who were assigned to each engine. I don't know, but I'd wager that the dates on some of those name tags might be the crew member's service dates....many before my own father was born. Likely all of those men have since traveled on to the big round house in the sky, and those name tags are the only reminders of their existence.

Engine house life clearly goes on around this little shrine, and keeping it pristine has not been a priority. There are however, other such snippets of past in less traveled areas of the museum complex, that remain almost undisturbed. They literally look as if someone turned the lights out 60 years ago, and simply walked away.
