Remarks & Notes

Utah Railway RSD-4 No. 303 has a newly rebuilt Alco 244 V-12 prime mover installed at Martin Yard on July 25, 1977. Unfortunately, the 244 engine tarnished Alco's reputation as it had reliability issues when crankshafts were prone to failure. The Utah Railway apparently had good results hauling heavy coal trains over Soldier Summit and to and from coal mines for 29 years.
