Ely after dark. The Engineer and Conductor on Nevada Northern's Steptoe Valley Flyer converse briefly as their passenger train sits on the platform of East Ely's 1921-vintage railroad depot. Their power tonight is the high-stepping Baldwin 10-wheeler #40, which was built in 1910. Beside her, a heavy freight powered by Alco Consolidation #93 awaits orders to head for Ruth with supplies for a mining company customer.
