Late afternoon and 18-256 / 18-408 / 18-242 have just climbed away from Cliffdale up to Hammarsdale with a Mixed / Tanker load. The train is outward bound from Durban. An interesting number allocation on the second locomotive, 18-408, in red TFR livery. All the "400" numbered Class 18E locomotives were seemingly allocated to PRASA (Passenger Rail Agency Of South Africa) / Shosholoza Meyl and they were put into either the "purple" livery, or from 421 to 435, the PRASA "blue" livery. It seems now that the “purple” Shosholoza Meyl livery is on its way out, with a few locomotives numbered between 18-401 and 18-420 having already been repainted into the PRASA “blue”. Numbers 408, 411, 416, 417, 418 and 419 were however put into TFR red and assigned to Transnet (although 419 started out in the Shosholoza Meyl “purple” and worked freight trains in this livery for a while before having her livery corrected).
