The train is in the middle of nowhere. It is about 12 miles south of Portage Alaska on the Seward Branch. The rail line follows the Placer River, which the train is crossing and makes a sharp right turn inside the tunnel. The train will be in and out of tunnels for several miles before running north to Portage.
