The Savannah & Atlanta heritage unit leads 130 empty coal hoppers uphill on track three at Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania. The train is returning to the southwest Pennsylvania coal mines from Baltimore for another load of coal. Neither Savannah nor Atlanta are used to single digit temperatures, negative-degree wind chills, or snow, but as the heritage units roam the system, the locomotives and their crews experience the many different weather patterns that affect day to day operations across Norfolk Southern's system.
