The KCT will build another 75 car unit scrap train later today, which will leave town as BNSF Train U KCKHKM0 02T with a trio of engines. The ES44C4 was built in February 2014, the newest unit I've run in probably 4 years. Days like these are when my job is downright fun.
At 121 days old (at the time of the photo), this engine already had 30,467 miles on the odometer. That's roughly 250 miles a day and an average speed of 10 MPH. Not too bad, really, when you think of how long a train can sit stopped.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
