Amtrak's southbound Vermonter train #55 on Tuesday, December 30, has the returning pair of rare (for the Vermonter) back-to-back P42-9s, 203 and 105, leading an 8-car train that includes the Amtrak 10001 Beech Grove office car, Amtrak 10021 Pacific Cape sleeper and the Amtrak 10004 American View Viewliner Theater car. Amtrak President Boardman and other execs were aboard the first northbound trip over the new Knowledge Corridor route for the Vermonter on Monday and rode through to and overnighted at St. Albans, Vermont. The train is along the normally reflective but 'winterized' Mud Pond on Monday, December 30, with full train visible.
The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.
