My Favorite GEVO - BNSF 7777 - The first picture I have of BNSF #7777 was taken on July 29, 2009, where I got it at the crossing with the Power Line Road at MP 57.17.
Since then I have seen #7777 come and go fairly often (some units come into Los Angeles and that is the last that you see of them) but good ole 7777 seems to stick around.
In years past, it seemed that #7777 was part of the "west of Barstow" power group, however in recent years it would be seen on an alcohol train and be gone for a while.
On the day I got this photo, I had been wondering what became of #7777, and to my delight it came down the hill in the late afternoon sun as the leader (many times it is stuck in a consist or the train side unit of a two engine DPU set).
After looking at the photo, it is clear that our beloved #7777 is venturing into the Red Rock country of New Mexico, so it is logical to assume that #7777 is no longer relegated to the "west of Barstow" group anymore.
Perhaps one day it can come back to run elephant style as part of the world famous Barstow Power Pool.
