Sunshine on a Cloudy Day. Ever since Florida East Coast brought back their "Champion" paint scheme, I have always wanted to see a champ with a KCS Southern Belle. I finally got my wish today as two new champion ES44C4s, FEC 806 and 809, came to the St. Louis area via KCS. A couple of hours after arriving on train MKCVN with two belle Gevos leading, the pair of shiny FEC units are seen here being shuttled to CSX's Rose Lake Yard on YVN112 behind a belle SW1500. This, of course, is a scene not likely to be repeated. Note the old searchlight signal still standing guard at right.
