After cutting out the helpers, Southern Pacific's NSGVC coking coal train departs 7440 ft. Soldier Summit the evening of Sept. 10, 1996. This would become my very last photograph of an SP train before the merger with Union Pacific the following day. Farewell old friend. You are missed!
