In the current age of GE six-axle dominance, it may be difficult to remember that just a few years ago EMD B-Bs were the most popular locomotive type. Chessie had a huge fleet of GP40s, and they were often seen running solo on big trains, at least in the flatter areas of the system. On this day in Toledo, seven of the eight Chessie trains I saw were headed by single GP40s.
