In Sept. 1989 some enterprising Houston businessmen began operating “The Texas Limited” about 4 days per week between Houston and Galveston on the SP. The following month, Oct. 14, 1989, the southbound train was crossing a bayou at Harrisburg, Texas with leased ATSF Geep 2240 as their own F unit was in the shop. The first car was ex-CRI&P named “Michelob;” 2nd car was ex-ATSF Chimayo” built for the Super Chief in 1937, and 3rd car was an ex-CB&Q dome coach from the Calif. Zephyr, lettered for the Roaring Fork Ry.
