To help ease their motive power shortage while orders for new locomotives are filled, Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) has hired a number of RRL Grindrod's type RL30SCC-3 diesels, built at the Grindrod workshops in Pretoria. Four of these locomotives are running light through Redan Metrorail station near Vereeniging, heading north to the Sentrarand line. The freight trains visible behind the trees on the right are staged with their locomotives, awaiting fresh crews to continue their journeys.
