This diminutive steamlocomotive E 2/2 # 3 "Zephir" is the oldest which was operated in Switzerland this year. It was built in 1874 by Krauss /Munich for the "Bödelibahn" from Därligen via Interlaken to Bönigen, between Lake of Thun and Lake of Brienz. It belongs to the VHS (Swiss Transport Museum Lucerne), is in charge of SBB Historic and operated by the HEG (Historische Eisenbahn Gesellschaft/Historic Railway Company) in Delémont. The train ran from Delémont to Choindez (5.5 kilometer) and back this day. In Switzerland it is still possible, in strict compliance with the appropriate regulations and requirements, to operate on a main line of the SBB, with a hand-braked train without any automatic train protection systems and with only 25 km/h. I like that!
