September 28 was the first full day of Chama Steam's Fall Madness, 4 days of 463 pulling a photo freight back and forth over the line.
Unfortunately, this day was less than ideal weather-wise. There was heavy rain as the train was climbing the 4%, meaning cameras had to be tucked away when not in use, and people needed their ISO set to a high setting, causing some grainy (yet dramatic) photos.
When the train departed Chama at 8 AM, there was a gap in the rain, and there was even a little more light than anticipated! Here, 463 pulls the train out of Chama, past Juke's Tree, ready to tackle the 4%.
