| The magnificent and brooding distant North Pennine hills are darkened by a recently passed shower as 'Duchess of Sutherland' heads towards her two hour sojourn at Appleby, some two miles further south. The lovely Autumnal sunshine that heralded her passage was fleeting and all had returned to greyness, gales and rain by the time she continued from Appleby over the Settle & Carlisle route. |
