Remarks & Notes
Ready for departure. Spokane, Portland & Seattle's massive Northern steams in the Portland Yard with a string of heavyweight coaches, looking for all the world like she's about to depart on a scheduled night run to Spokane. Alas, that will not happen this night, but the locomotive does occasionally venture out on mainline excursions, and she regularly pulls Christmas specials. She can be seen on static display at the recently-opened Oregon Rail Heritage Center in downtown Portland, adjacent to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
