Another great Photo Charter by Chase Gunnoe on the Durbin and Greenbrier RR. Here number 81 in crosses Shvers Fork of the Cheat River a few miles from Cheat Bridge. This is an original Western Maryland locomotive built in 1948. with the exception of the ditch lights and the reflective dashes on the frame this loco is as it was when it saw service on the Western Maryland. It has only seen two paint schemes the Western Maryland "Fireball" scheme and the scheme you see here. It's sister locomotive number 81 resides in the B&O Museum in Baltimore
The following album contains an assortment of images uploaded to Railpictures.Net from an October photo excursion on the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad between Elkins, W.Va. and Cheat Bridge, W.Va. on October 13, 2014.
