Wearing a paint scheme reminiscent of the old Illinois Terminal Company, Respondek Railroad Corporation SD40-2 2301 is positively glowing in the bright morning light on October 3rd, 2014. The engine was built by EMD for the Chicago & North Western in February 1975, as their number 6923. Following the UP/C&NW merger, this engine was Union Pacific 3086. It was later sold to Respondek, and under its ownership it has worn several paint schemes, most painted in the old ITC green and yellow, but lettered for the Port Harbor Railroad and, here, the Illini Terminal. Photographed on railroad property with permission and full PPE.
