Diamonds protected by gates aren't very common in Iowa anymore. Only a couple are left, and this one at Tara is on the schedule to be updated. The CN and UP are putting in signals so the UP doesn't have to stop and line the gate for their movement. This neat gate setup is endangered to change, as is most old historical things in the railroad industry. Here a sweet bran train pulls out of Cargill enroute to the BNSF at East Dubuque, IL, and bound for Texas feed mills.
