| The 268 and 271 spend a weekday layover in Pine Aire Yard. This occurrence is rare and transpires from weekday track work during daylight hours on LIRR's mainline east of KO2 Interlocking. All mainline freight work now takes place under the cover of darkness. These two sisters will be fired up in a few hours to commence their work. Also pictured behind the lead units is HLCX leaser, GP38-3 #1010 which is now being shipped back to Helm after being replaced. This is 1010's second and final trip over LIRR rails since being shipped to Brookhaven Rail Terminal in Yaphank, NY. It will travel west tonight on this train and most likely never be seen again on Long Island. |
