| Another angle on Photo ID 438475. Heavy overnight December summer rain resulted in the Amanzimtoti River coming down in flood and eroding into the supporting bank of the line down to the KwaZulu Natal South Coast at the mouth of the river. Despite the line being trollied and clear, 37-030 was at the front of a very early morning timber train for Saiccor / Umkomaas and unfortunately the sodden bank gave way, with the result being what you see. Thankfully there were no serious injuries to the crew. |
