Resplendent in fresh paint and speed lettering, a Southern Pacific SD40T-2 awaits assignment at Roper Yard on May 22, 1994. The 8565 was built new by EMD for the SP in February 1979. After the UP-SP merger, it would be renumbered the Union Pacific 8776 and retired from the active roster by Aug. 22, 2001.
