| After departing Elk Run Yard during a torrential downpour, CSXT ES44AC No. 872 leads a string of old CSX system hoppers on CSX's Big Coal Subdivision to Sproul. The switch in the foreground is the eastern leg of the wye to the railroad's Seth Subdivision, a branch line that is now out of service due to closed coal mines. Several additional mine closures are projected on the Big Coal line, drastically impacting train frequency on the branch as early as next month. |
