Remarks & Notes
CSX train R326-11 (Chicago Barr-Detroit Rougemere) is all but coasting down to the base of Salem Hill at milepost 29 of the CSX Plymouth Subdivision. Salem Hill is the ruling grade on the CSX Detroit-Chicago mainline, and was a helper district (Plymouth-South Lyon) prior to the advent of the GE CW44AC. The High Cubes at the head end will shortly be set out at Plymouth Yard for eventual loading at Ford Heater (aka Vistion). The hill in the background is a landfill, and is the highest point in southeast Michigan. I used to go in and out of there two or three times a day due to the nature of my employment at the time. On a clear day I could see the Fermi II Nuclear Generating Station, the Detroit Edison Monroe coal-fired power plant, and, get this, the Davis–Besse Nuclear Power Station in Oak Harbor, Ohio (!).
