Southwestern 3588 idles in Artesia, NM. SW 3588 spent its early days as UP "fast forty" 8079, often wedged between DDA40Xs, racing between North Platte and Ogden. Now it's finding honest work along the former AT&SF line between Clovis and Carlsbad, NM (with a spur to Loving, NM).
This line is primarily used for hauling Potash to the BNSF connection in Clovis, and bringing nuclear waste to a depository along the line (Southwestern also operates a separate line in SW NM that primarily services Phelps Dodge facilities).
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
