Built in September 1968, KCS GP40-2 Nº2838 began life as PC GP40 3131, to CR 3131 then the unit shipped off to KCS in 1982 to become their 761. In 1991 the unit was sent to MK in Boise, Idaho for a complete rebuild and up graded to GP40-2 specs then returned as the KCS 4791 before being renumbered to 2838 to match the carrier's horsepower based numbering system. It's seen standing at KCS's High Oak Yard in it's colorful Belle scheme in the early morning hours of August 20,2014.
