| SNCF Nord Region 231E Pacific No 231E27, built in 1937 it was the penultimate Chapelon Pacifc to be constructed, has just coupled onto the Rapide BC (Basle-Calais) at Lille having taken over from a BB-16000 electric that had brought the train from Basle departing at 00.50 and arriving at 09.10 in Lille for the final leg of the journey to Calais.
After photographing the steam special on the Furka Oberalp (see previous post) I made my way to Sargans where I boarded the Innsbruck to Calais through carriage which came by way of the 'Arlberg Express' and was shunted onto train BC at Basel SBB. Such a shame that nowadays it is impossible make journeys like that saving at lot of time and with no changes en-route. |
