Remarks & Notes 
RM 31 was built by NZ Railways Hutt Workshops in 1938 and named Tokomaru after a famous historic Maori canoe. After restoration by the Pahiatua Railcar Society it returned to mainline service in 2011. Here it is seen in late afternoon sunlight between Otane and Hastings on a run to Napier.
