Tying up in Silverton. Denver & Rio Grande Western Consolidation #315 spends the night at the platform in Silverton, Colorado, with K-28 #473, after a day of operations in the Animas Canyon. Durango Railroad Historical Society CMO Dennis D'Alessandro is babysitting the engine tonight, oiling around as photographers record the scene. After her retirement from active service, the 315 was owned for many years by the City of Durango, Colorado. Recently, that ownership was transferred to the DRHS, which is the group that restored the engine to operation back in 2007 and has operated it periodically in the years since.
