Light moves. Just before making her final run-by for the Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts charter in the town of Bartlett, NH, the crew of CN 7470 noticed a bearing that was running hot. After completing the run-by, the crew elected to exercise an abundance of caution and send the passenger train home to North Conway behind the diesel escort which had been shadowing the excursion all day. Remaining behind in Bartlett, the 7470 crew allowed the bearing to cool and then proceeded light back to North Conway at reduced speed. I'm not normally a fan of grade crossing shots, but I elected to grab my camera for this one, not only because it is unusual to see the steam engine running light at this location, but because the afternoon light was pretty darn nice. Here's hoping that the FRA will grant the Conway Scenic folks the requested extension on the 1,472-day inspection, and that 7470 has a few trips left in her for 2014.
