Remarks & Notes |
Doyle McCormack's Nickel Plate Road Alco PA-1 is the star of the show at the Streamliners at Spencer event at the North Carolina Transportation Museum. The locomotive is seen taking a spin on the turntable on Thursday afternoon. Nickel Plate 190 was originally built for the ATSF as #62-L was built for Santa Fe in December 1948 and delivered in the red and silver warbonnet paint scheme. In 1975 it was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen and sold to the Delaware & Hudson, where it became #18, before serving a stint in Mexico. Doyle saved the locomotive and restored it to the railroad that his father worked for and to the specific locomotive number that he experienced his first cab ride in. Beautiful work Doyle and team. |
