On 19th & 20th May, five of the first ten Class 20E Bo-Bo dual voltage 3kV DC / 25kV AC electric locomotives, built in China by Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., a subsidiary of the China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation (CSR), worked a test train of 104 type CR ore wagons overnight from Warrenton to the Arcelor Mittal steelworks in Vanderbijlpark. The return working with 104 empties ran in daylight and is seen here at Raatsvlei, surrounded by the mealie fields of the southern Gauteng highveld. The Arcelor Mittal plant (formerly ISCOR – Iron & Steel Corporation of South Africa) is visible on the horizon above the first catenary mast.
