Norfolk and Western class J number 611 departed its display location of 20 years today at 2pm. The special train shoved east from the VMT connection track, all the way downtown, to the O Winston Link Museum, to eventually weave its way across the yard. The OWL Museum is the former N&W passenger station, and has seen the J-class locomotives pass by quite a few times during its lifetime. Be sure to visit www.fireup611.org and contribute to the restoration of 611, so the next time we see this scene, it will be running under its own steam! Photo by Casey Thomason.
