Remarks & Notes
Spikes
When a tie replacement is under way, one of the other fundamental things being replaced other than ties are spikes and lots of them as evident here. An original Atlantic Coast Line gondola built by Pullman Standard in 1966 and still wearing ACL reporting marks is the gondola of choice to carry these fasteners as they await a new tie to which they will soon become affixed to.
