Calling out The Hook. The beefy Nevada Northern Consolidation #93 withdraws the line's Steam Wrecking Crane A and its companion outfit/tool car from their home in the Machine Shop at the south end of the yard. The red-colored tool car is rarely separated from the crane. It carries all of the straps, slings, cables, chains, hooks and other hardware that would be used with the crane for most any sort of heavy lifting job. The car also serves as an idler on the wreck train, allowing space for the crane boom to swing without hitting anything as the train travels around curves.
