| The inaugural Martin-Marietta unit train over the entire 78 mile route of the Blacklands Railroad marches up grade near the community of Neylandville on the pleasant spring afternoon. Originating in Uvalde, Texas, the asphalt train was interchanged with the Blacklands the previous evening (April 14th) and ran as far as Winfield. The next morning, the train would finish the run to Greenville over the former Cotton Belt line. |
