Remarks & Notes
It's fall and the Columbia River valley is socked in as an eastbound BN freight eases across the Rock Island bridge over the Columbia east of Wenatchee, WA. this view shows the reconstruction of the bridge that Great Northern did by essentially wrapping a new bridge around the original to permit heavier trains to be handled. The bridge has survived a fire and is still in service today handling BNSF mainline trains.
