Remarks & Notes
Burlington Northern Railroad leased power from both General Motors' Electro-Motive Division (Oakway SD60s) and General Electric Leasing (LMX B39-8Es). When the BN merged with Santa Fe, LMX units began to appear on former Santa Fe lines as well. (The Oakway units rarely did, as they are used in coal service.) On March 26th, 1997, LMX B39-8E 8537 was leading train H-KCRI1-23 (Kansas City, KS, to Richmond, CA) past the old passenger station and Harvey House in Barstow, in California's Mojave Desert. The rest of the consist is interesting as well, with a former Santa Fe SD40-2, a Conrail Dash 8-40C, an MK F45 (ex-ATSF) and a KCS SD60. (Barstow, California - March 26, 1997)
